Terms of Service

Last updated: 7 September 2026

This is a starting draft, not legal advice. It was written to give RunnerUp a reasonable, plain-language set of terms covering how the app actually works today. Have a qualified lawyer review it before relying on it — especially given the health-adjacent training data involved and GDPR obligations if users in the EU are using the service.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account or using RunnerUp (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

2. What the Service is (and isn't)

RunnerUp helps you plan and track running training: a workout calendar, an exercise library, optional Strava syncing of completed activities, optional connections with a running trainer/coach, and a way to share your schedule via a public link.

The Service is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. Training plans, pace targets, and exercise instructions are general guidance, not a substitute for advice from a doctor or qualified professional.

3. Your account

You must provide accurate information when registering and keep your password (and, if enabled, your two-factor authentication device) secure. You're responsible for activity that happens under your account. You must be at least 16 years old, or the minimum age required in your country to consent to use of online services without parental permission.

4. Health & training disclaimer

Starting or changing a running training program carries physical risk. You should consult a doctor before beginning a new training program, especially if you have an existing health condition. You use training plans, pace targets, and exercise instructions at your own risk. Neither RunnerUp nor any trainer using it to coach you is liable for injury arising from following a plan.

5. Trainer / runner relationships

If you connect with a trainer (or invite a runner to coach), that connection lets the trainer view and edit the runner's training schedule, notes, and Strava-derived stats, in order to help build and adjust the plan. Either side can end this connection at any time from Settings — the trainer then loses access to that runner's schedule.

6. Your content & data

You keep ownership of the training data you enter or import (workouts, notes, race information). By using the Service you grant us the license needed to store and process that data in order to provide it back to you — the calendar, stats, sharing, and Strava sync features all depend on that.

We collect: account details (name, email, password hash), the training and exercise data you enter, Strava activity data if you connect your Strava account, and basic technical data (like login timestamps) needed to keep the Service secure.

Under GDPR (if this applies to you), you have the right to access, correct, export, or request deletion of your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact info@runnerup.io.

Deleted (trashed) workouts and Strava activities are kept for 30 days to allow undoing a mistake, then permanently removed.

7. Public sharing feature

If you turn on schedule sharing, anyone who has your share link can view whichever fields you've chosen to expose (basic, full, or a custom selection including Strava insights). The link itself isn't otherwise access-controlled — don't turn on sharing, or don't distribute the link, if you don't want that content visible to anyone who has it.

8. Third-party services

If you connect Strava, activity data is pulled under an authorization you grant through Strava's own login flow; your use of Strava remains subject to Strava's own terms. RunnerUp is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Strava.

Disconnecting Strava in your account settings revokes our access with Strava and promptly deletes your imported Strava activity data from our systems. You can also revoke RunnerUp's access at any time directly from strava.com/settings/apps, independent of any action here.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to: attempt unauthorized access to other accounts or the underlying systems, scrape or bulk-extract data from the Service, upload unlawful or harmful content, or use the Service in a way that disrupts it for other users.

10. Termination

To delete your account or request removal of your data, contact info@runnerup.io. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, in particular the Acceptable Use section above.

11. No warranty & limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of training data or reliance on any training or coaching content provided through the Service.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "last updated" date above will reflect the most recent change. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to conflict-of-law principles — pending confirmation from a lawyer that this is the right choice for how and where the Service is actually used.
